Victim Identified in Cocoa Shooting Incident

The Brevard County Sheriff’s Office has identified the decedent from the shooting incident that occurred yesterday evening in Cocoa. 28-year-old, George Dewey of Cocoa, died at the scene from injuries sustained during the shooting.

The investigation to date has revealed that a disagreement between the decedent and another individual escalated into a violent encounter that occurred on Venus Drive in Cocoa. During the encounter, the decedent and at least one other individual who is not being identified at this time exchanged gunfire. No arrests have been made at this time and Homicide agents and Crime Scene investigators are continuing to conduct interviews and evaluate evidence. The factual findings will be forwarded to the State Attorney’s Office once the investigation is completed.
