37th Annual Greek Festival

The 37th Annual Greek Festival will be held March 11-13 at St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church in Ft. Pierce.  The three day festival originated in 1979 and was created to raise awareness and serve as a fundraiser for the church.

For 37 years, members of the church have volunteered their time, energy and talents to showcase their Greek heritage.  Visitors to this year’s Festival will be treated to live Greek music and dancing, authentic Greek foods, imported Greek wines, beers and other beverages.  The Festival will open daily at 11am.  Parking is free.

Record crowds are expecting to sample the extensive menu that includes lamb shanks, soutzoukakia, moussaka, gyros and souvlaki.  Baklava, koulourakia, kataifi and diples will be among the pastries.  The event will also include a variety of booths and vendors selling goods imported from Greece and other countries.  Tours of the 200-member church will also be available.

“We’re excited about this year’s Festival,” stated Dennis Starr one of the organizers.  “We’re proud it’s our 37th year of holding the event.  It’s been very successful and we invite the community to join us again for our annual celebration of our culture, language and religious heritage.”

The festival is St. Nicholas Church’s major annual fundraiser. Proceeds will benefit community organizations that the church supports, among them Big Brothers Big Sisters and Hospice of The Treasure Coast.

St. Nicholas Church is located at 2525 South 25th Street, Ft. Pierce.  For more information please call 696-4776.
