A woman who crashed into a gas line in Port St. Lucie, knocking out gas service to thousands of customers for days, has been arrested and charged with DUI.

The crash happened on May 10, just before Mother’s Day.

Police said Terry Brewer drover her 2005 Dodge Caravan over a fence and into the Florida City Gas Transmission’s main line on Macedo Boulevard.

Police had to evacuate nearby homes and businesses. Restaurants had to close during Mother’s Day, one of the busiest days of the year.

Authorities said Brewer had a blood alcohol content of .160, which is two times the legal limit.

Police obtained a warrant for her arrest last Friday.  She surrendered on Saturday and posted bond after being booked at the St. Lucie County Jail.
