Treasure Coast Connector Adds Routes Into Lakewood Park
FORT PIERCE – The Treasure Coast Connector is now offering fixed-route service to those in the Lakewood Park area, connecting to the Go-line in Indian River County. The expanded route, which started Monday, Oct. 5, allows residents and visitors to access destinations from Broward County to Indian River using public transportation.
With funding support from the Florida Department of Transportation and the St Lucie County Board of County Commissioners, the new route originates at the Intermodal Facility on Avenue D, travels north on 25th Street to St. Lucie Boulevard and then west to Kings Highway. The service stops at the Treasure Coast International Airport and Business Park, Indrio Crossings, Portofino Shores and the Lakewood Park Library, continuing to Emerson Avenue/27th Avenue with access to the Indrio Road Park and Schoolhouse and the Lakewood Park Regional Pool/Park. The route connects with Indian River Transit at South Point Plaza and then returns to the intermodal facility. This service will complete its circuit back to the Intermodal facility within an hour; improving access to education, employment and shopping opportunities, as well as medical services and recreational activities.
Scheduled service is available Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Fares are $2 per ride or $5 for a day pass and can be purchased from the driver. Monthly passes are $50 and 10-ride ticket books can be purchased for $14. Seniors and those with disabilities receive a 50 percent discount on the fare. Youth 18 and under ride free with a library card or school ID.
