On Tuesday, Stuart Police Officers conducted a traffic stop in the 1300 block of SE Federal Highway at a gas station.
During the course of the stop, the passenger fled running down US 1. Corey Allen Andrews had a felony warrant for grand theft.
While officers were searching for Andrews, a good Samaritan saw him running from police and a short while later offered Andrews a ride on his Vespa scooter. Andrews asked for a ride to Publix. Instead, the Samaritan took him to officers that were looking for him.
After a brief foot chase Andrews was apprehended.
It doesn’t end there. While on the run, Andrews called his buddy Joseph Grimsley telling him to pick him up at Publix and that the police were looking for him.
Well, we found Grimsley at Publix. He was operating a vehicle with a revoked license. Grimsley was also charged with obstruction of justice.
