Battle Over Police Body Cameras

The battle over police body cameras rages on, but how do the men and women in blue feel about it?

A new study by researchers at Florida Atlantic University finds some interesting opinions. Among the key findings: 50 percent support the use of body-worn cameras, and 60 percent feel the media will use video from the body-cams to embarrass police. More than 50 percent feel because of body-cams police will be reluctant to use necessary force in encounters with the public.

The FAU study also found  most police leaders feel the public supports the use of body cameras, because police leaders feel society does not trust police.
