Sweethearts & Heroes, segment 5: put policies into action

The fifth segment of our continuing series from Sweethearts & Heroes starts with a lighthearted moment between co-founders Jason Spector and Tom Murphy, but the topic they discuss is serious: putting a zero-tolerance policy into action.

Jason and Tom have spread the Sweethearts & Heroes message to thousands of students and educators in hundreds of schools, where zero-tolerance bullying policy signs are everywhere.

But how are schools putting those zero-tolerance policies into action?

“Just putting a sign up on the wall … doesn’t necessarily change a school climate or environment,” Jason says in this video clip below — one of 27 installments from Jason and Tom that are meant to give you tips and strategies related to the Sweethearts & Heroes mission.

Jason and Tom see direct proof and evidence that the techniques outlined in Sweethearts & Heroes are working in schools, and other environments. Still, the reality — as Tom mentions, here — is that 90 percent of bullies get away with their behavior.

Watch this short video below to hear Tom explain a technique he uses when he makes Sweethearts & Heroes presentations at schools. Then — try it yourself. (Hint: Have a pen and paper ready.)
