St. Lucie County Welcomes New Tennis Pros to the Lawnwood Tennis Center
FORT PIERCE – St. Lucie County’s Parks, Recreation and Facilities Department recently contracted with Cheryl and Brian Golgart to oversee tennis at Lawnwood Tennis Center off of Virginia Ave.
The Golgarts will operate Flex Tennis bringing decades of professional tennis experience to the complex, which features 12 tennis courts. The couple plans to expand the tennis programs at the county, including adding sanctioned and unsanctioned tournaments, private and group lessons, as well as league play for youth and adults.
Originally from Colorado, Brian is a Certified Tennis Professional, who spent the past 20 years in Georgia playing and teaching tennis, where he met his wife, Cheryl at a tennis tournament. The former director of tennis at Advanced Tennis Gardens in Georgia, Brian is a USTA Certified Tournament Director. He earned a state adult singles ranking of No. 19 and state men’s double’s ranking of No. 2 in Georgia.
Likewise, Cheryl is a seasoned tennis player from Georgia, where she played and captained for many years on the USTA, ATLA, K-Swiss and Flex Leagues. She is a USTA Certified Tournament Director and 10 & Under Instructor and was the previous operations manager at Advanced Tennis Gardens in Georgia.
The Golgarts moved to the Treasure Coast, so that they could enjoy the game of tennis year round. Both have been teaching private lessons here for the past year and look forward to overseeing tennis at Lawnwood.
