The State Attorney’s office filed a motion to delay the sentencing for cop killer Eriese Tisdale.
It’s in response to the recent decision by the U.S. Supreme Court, which ruled Florida’s death penalty system as unconstitutional.
A jury found Tisdale guilty in the killing of St. Lucie County Deputy Sergeant Gary Morales during a traffic stop in February 2013. The same jury recommended the death penalty.
The Supreme Court threw out Florida’s death penalty system, because the judge had final say on who received the death penalty, and not the jury.
Tisdale is set to appear before the judge on Friday to learn his punishment.
The hearing could now be delayed with this new motion.
