One of the coins found by treasure hunters last month in 15 feet of water off the coast of Fort Pierce is a very rare coin called a Royal.
Unlike the other smaller coins that were found from the 1715 shipwreck, the Royal is perfectly round. It is a near perfect specimen and was made specifically to be given to the King of Spain.
That one coin, pure gold, is worth $500,000.
That one coin accounts for about half the value of the entire amount of treasure that was found that day on June 17.
