Port St. Lucie mom arrested for taking her teenage daughter to a local park to fight another teenage girl.
On April 6, 2016, Port St. Lucie Police arrested Heather Salerno on charges of child abuse, contributing to the delinquency of a minor, and disorderly conduct after she took her 15 year old daughter to Sportsman’s Park to fight a 16 year old schoolmate.
Investigation revealed that on or about March 30, 2016, tension between the two teenagers began when unwanted texts were sent from a teenage girl to Salerno’s daughter. After learning of the dispute, officers intervened by leaving a message for the girl and her parents to stop texting Salerno’s daughter.
On April 2, 2016, the investigating officer met with Salerno to see if the texts had stopped. Salerno told the officer that police intervention didn’t work so she took care of the problem. Salerno continued by telling the officer that she took her daughter to Sportsman’s Park to fight the other teenage girl. Salerno then showed the officer a video of the fight that occurred at the park between the two girls.
The video showed Salerno witnessing and egging on the fight between her daughter and the other teenage girl.
After reviewing the information of the case and seeing the video, the officer arrested Salerno and transported her to the St. Lucie County Jail for booking.
