Martin County Parks and Recreation to host open Skate Party July 25 to celebrate Park and Recreation Month
Martin County Parks and Recreation is celebrating National Park & Recreation Month with a totally rad 80’s Open Skate Party presented by Lively Orthodontics on Saturday, July 25 from 6-9 p.m. at the Roller Rink at Halpatiokee Regional Park! This event is open and free to the public and everyone is invited to party to all of the freshest jams from the 1980s.
Sorry dude, no skates will be available for rent at this event. All participants will need to bring their own roller skates or roller blades to this tubular party! This gnarly skate and dance party is also being held on National Dance Day.
Launched in 2010 by “So You Think You Can Dance” co-creator Nigel Lythgoe, National Dance Day (NDD) is an annual celebration that takes place on the last Saturday in July. This grassroots campaign encourages Americans to embrace dance as a fun and positive way to maintain good health and fight obesity. NDD is the only official day in the U.S. that is devoted to dance, it signifies an opportunity for everyone around the country to get up, celebrate dance and have some fun doing it.
This July, Martin County Parks and Recreation and the National Recreation and Park Association are celebrating 30 years of Park and Recreation Month and the enduring importance of parks and recreation for the world. Parks are the cornerstone of nearly every community, serving millions of people as the places anyone can go to be active, live healthier, connect with nature and gather together. Parks and recreation make our lives and communities better. On July 7, 2015, the Martin County Board of County Commissioners declared July as Parks and Recreation month in Martin County.
