The Fort Pierce Police Department is pleased to introduce our new Police Administrator, Director Eric (EJ) Diaz. Director Diaz is a retired Sergeant and 29 year veteran of the Tampa Police Department.
The Highlights of his career as a member of the Tampa Police Department includes assignments as a Supervisor of the Department’s Personnel & Training Unit, Street Level Narcotics, and 23 year member of the Tampa Police Department’s Special Weapons and Tactics team (S.W.A.T.) as both an operator and Team Commander. He was also Master Trainer for the Department, teaching High Liability Subjects for more than 25 years. Director Diaz has been awarded numerous awards from both the agency and the community to include being the Tampa Police Department’s Officer of the Year.
Director Diaz is a Master Defensive Tactics instructor and has served on the State of Florida’s Task Force as well as subject matter expert for the Florida Department of Law Enforcement. He is an International Trainer and has conducted Defensive Tactics, Firearms and Officer Survival training in both Haiti and Costa Rica.
Director Diaz served as the the Public Information Officer (PIO) of the Tampa Police Department. As the official spokesperson for the Department, he built great relationships with the media to ensure the community was informed and educated in matters that impacted them. Director Diaz is confident that he will establish this type of relationship with the media on the Treasure Coast.
Director Diaz’s emphasis on training and his vast experience in all areas of policing will greatly benefit the City of Fort Pierce and the Fort Pierce Police Department.
