House of Hope’s Stuart Thrift Store Adds Sunday Hours
House of Hope’s thrift store in Stuart will be open seven days a week starting Sunday, Aug. 9, in a continuing effort to provide more and better services to Martin County residents in need.
The thrift store, located at 2525 S.E. Federal Hwy., will be open 10 a.m.-4 p.m. on Sundays. The store is also open Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, 9 a.m.-4 p.m.; and Wednesday 10:30 a.m.- 4 p.m.
House of Hope’s thrift stores produce about one-third of the money that the agency needs to operate its vital human services, which include a food pantry, financial assistance, information & referral, and life-changing case management to help people work toward greater stability in their lives.
The thrift stores also operate the agency’s “Clothes Closet” program, providing clothing, household necessities, furniture and appliances at no cost to eligible people in need.
House of Hope moved the Stuart thrift store to Federal Highway in the fall of 2014. It previously was housed within the agency’s main office and service center at the corner of Dixie Highway and Bonita Street in Golden Gate.
The new thrift store has been successful in attracting more customers, donations and awareness about House of Hope and its mission to empower Martin County residents to overcome hunger and hardship.
At Bonita Street, in the space vacated by the thrift store, House of Hope is preparing for a renovation that will enhance services. Planning and fund-raising is ongoing for improvements to the food pantry, the case management program and the food distribution center – with more refrigeration for fresh produce and frozen meat.
Founded in 1984, House of Hope now touches the lives of more than 5,000 people per month through its locations in Stuart, Hobe Sound, Indiantown and Jensen Beach.
