HOBE SOUND GOLF CLUB JUNIOR MEMBER HANNAH FOSTER NAMED “GIRLS’ GOLFER OF THE YEAR” BY SENTINEL, POS
Hobe Sound Golf Club Junior Golfer Hannah Foster was recently recognized as the South Florida Sun-Sentinel and the Palm Beach Post Girls’ Golfer of the Year. She is member of the golf team at The Benjamin School in Palm Beach Gardens. Earlier this year she represented to win the high school district championship and advanced to the state championship.
Miss Foster first started playing golf at age seven when she and a friend wanted an activity to spend time with each other after she changed schools so they wouldn’t lose touch with each other. They decided on golf lessons with the Head Golf Professional at Hobe Sound Golf Club, Tom Yeager. She then became a Junior Member at the Club.
“I love the fact that golf is a life-long sport,” says Miss Foster. “Golf has introduced me to many different people from around the world, and I love experiencing all of the different golf courses.
Influences
“My parents are my biggest influence,” she continues. “They have sacrificed and have put so much time into me so that I can achieve my goals. In golf, Tom Yeager is my biggest influence. He has been with me from the beginning, almost eight years, through all of my ups and downs. He has helped me with my mental strength and also has impressed upon me the importance of integrity. Both have helped me tremendously in golf and in life as well.”
In the interview with the Palm Beach Post, Yeager said, “Hannah is a very even-keeled person and never gets rattled. She is tournament tough. She is so strong fundamentally and has the potential and desire to go to the highest level if she wants.”
Because her father is from Jamaica, Miss Foster has also played as a member of the Jamaican Junior National Team. In 2016, she placed first in her division in the Caribbean Junior Golf Championships at Barbados Golf Club and 15th overall in the ANNIKA Invitational Latin America tournament in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
Aspirations
Miss Foster is on an engineering track of study at school, wants to attend a Division 1 college to play golf, and aspires to one day play on the LPGA. In addition to golf and school, she is a currently a member of the Key Club and volunteers with Habitat for Humanity, the South Florida PGA, and the Honda Classic.
