Hibiscus St. Lucie County Foundation Board Member

St. Lucie County, FL —   The Hibiscus Children’s Center St. Lucie County Foundation Board

oversees the fundraising efforts in the St. Lucie community and advocates for abused, neglected and abandoned children. Meeting the needs of the children and families in St. Lucie County involves everyone – individuals, businesses and organizations – working together. Frank L. Watkins, Jr., is a member of the board and also a Hibiscus Children’s Center Governing Board Member who is helping to make a difference. Mr. Watkins utilizes his vast knowledge and experience in the education field to serve his community and helps direct and guide Hibiscus in providing critical services to improve the life of children and families.

 

Mr. Watkins is Vice-President of Student Affairs at Indian River State College where he oversees the Student Affairs Division which includes Campus Safety and Security, Student Activities, Health and Wellness, Athletics, and the College Radio Station, WQCS. An employee since 1996, Mr. Watkins began his career at Indian River in the Distance Learning Department. The various positions he held such as Video Production Specialist, Online Course Developer, and Distance Learning Technology Coordinator, assisted IRSC in extending educational opportunities through the development and integration of Interactive TV and Online Web Courses as modes of instructional delivery to students.

 

Prior to becoming Vice-President of Student Affairs, Frank held the Assistant Dean of Business Technology position. Mr. Watkins is a U. S. Army Veteran, where he served as a broadcast journalist during his military service, winning several international awards for his work at the Armed Forces Radio and Television Service’s (AFRTS) Far East Network in Iwakuni, Japan. The Florida native also worked as an on-air announcer and voice talent for several Panama City radio stations before entering the military.

 

Frank is an Associates of Arts, and an Associate of Science Degree graduate of Gulf Coast Community College. He also holds a Bachelor’s degree in Communication Arts from Florida State University, and a Master’s degree in Educational Technology from Florida Atlantic University. Mr. Watkins is an advocate of service to our community and has demonstrated this through current and past affiliations with such organizations as the Association of Florida Colleges, Workforce Board of the Treasure Coast Youth Council, Saint Lucie County Chamber of Commerce-Minority Council, West High School Business Panther Partner Board, AFC Council of Student Affairs, mentor for Dan McCarty Middle School, and Boy Scout Troop 772 Committee Member.
