Fort Pierce Police Department Detectives make an arrest in domestic related shooting death 

Fort Pierce Police arrested Gelacio Uriel Jimenez, 34, of Fort Pierce, for the domestic related shooting death of Elman Miranda early yesterday morning.  Jimenez, was taken to the Saint Lucie County Jail and is being held without bond.

On June 13, 2015, at 12:46 am, Officers responded to 510 Gardenia Avenue in reference to a shooting.  On scene, officers discovered the victim, Elman Miranda, had suffered several gunshot wounds.  St Lucie County Fire Rescue transported Elman to a local trauma center for treatment where he succumbed to his injuries.

The investigation revealed Elman learned that a neighbor, Valeriano Gomez-Hernandez, had been communicating with his estranged wife. Once Elman confronted Valeriano, the two got into a physical altercation.  During the course of the altercation, the defendant, Gelacio Uriel Jimenez, fired a handgun multiple times at Elman critically injuring him.

Officers quickly located and arrested Jimenez. He was charged with Homicide. The investigation into this incident is still ongoing.
