Getting guns off the streets.
Over the weekend, during two separate incidents, deputies with the Indian River County Sheriff’s Office recovered handguns in criminal incidents.
On Saturday evening, 28 year old Marquis Brown of Gifford was arrested following a traffic stop in which lawmen say he ran dropping a loaded handgun in the process. The loaded gun was recovered. Brown was charged. He is being held without bond.
Later on a small caliber handgun was found in the pocket of Arzie Tory of Gifford, following a disturbance at the American Legion. the 52 year old Tory was charged and is free on bond.
Then, on Monday, Indian River County Sheriff’s Office School Resource Deputies recovered a loaded handgun in a student’s locker at the Freshman Learning Center.
