Lawyers for consumers and for some of the state’s biggest power users are asking the state supreme court to stop Florida Power and Light’s fracking surcharge.
FP&L is spending 190 million dollars on a fracking project in Oklahoma and their lawyer, Raoul Cantero, says it will mean savings for consumers if the surcharge is stopped
John Truitt with the Public Council’s Office says the Public Service Commission never had the authority to approve this venture.
It will be several months before the court issues a decision in the case. In the meantime, the fracking surcharge will continue to be included on FP&L bills.
