Energy costs will be lower for FPUA customers starting July 1st.

FORT PIERCE, FL., June 17, 2015 –Fort Pierce Utilities Authority (FPUA) announced today that the FPUA Board unanimously approved the utility’s request to reduce customer’s utility bill thanks to savings on fuel costs. Beginning July 1, 2015, the savings will cut $3.00 a month off a typical 1,000-kWh residential customer bill.

As a result of the reduction the average residential customer’s bill, based on 1,000 kWh, will decrease from $116.84 to $113.84 per month. This reduction equates to a $27 reduction in the customer’s bill since July 2009.

“It is anticipated that this $3.00 reduction will place FPUA’s electric rates below the average for FMPA’s All Requirements Project, the project serving 100% of the electric needs for 14 cities. However, FPUA is not satisfied with just being below the average of the All Requirements Project we want to get our rates as low as possible. We are working towards additional reductions,” says Clay Lindstrom, Director of Utilities.

In addition to this latest reduction, last month FPUA announced a reduction in the gas bill of $0.05/ccf.

FPUA’s Board meetings are held the first and third Tuesday of every month at 4:00pm in the City Commission Chambers located at 100 North U.S. 1.
