Disturbance at Port St. Lucie home prompts police SWAT team to respond

Casey Fick was taken to a local hospital for clearance prior to being transported to St Lucie County Jail this morning. Casey Fick has been charged with **DOMESTIC** SIMPLE BATTERY, AGGRAVATED BATTERY, DOMESTIC BATTERY BY STRANGULATION, AGGRAVATED ASSAULT – DEADLY WEAPON WITHOUT INTENT TO KILL (2CNTS), POSSESSION OF WEAPON /AMMO BY CONVICTED FELON (2CNTS).

Initial Release

On May 29, 2019 at around 10:40pm, Port St. Lucie Police went to 855 SW Duncan Terrace for reports of a disturbance.

Preliminary investigation revealed the white male (Casey Fick, DOB 12-08-1978) lives with his 15-year-old son. Today, Casey Fick physically assaulted his juvenile son. The son sustained minor injuries. The son contacted the mother who came directly to the residence. At this point, Casey Fick armed himself with a 40. caliber handgun and allegedly pointed the handgun at the mother’s face. The mother removed herself and the juvenile from the home safely. Police arrived on scene and contacted Casey Fick via phone. During the conversation Casey Fick fired three rounds inside of the home. Casey remained barricaded inside of the home. SWAT and Crisis Negotiation Team responded to the scene.

After several hours of negotiation Fick surrendered peacefully. Fick was taken into custody. Neighbors in the immediate vicinity were evacuated for safety and have been allowed to return home.

INVESTIGATION IS ONGOING.
