Suspects Arrested after Vehicle Pursuit
At approximately 11 P.M. on April 9, 2016, Deputies attempted a traffic stop on a black, 2015 Nissan Sentra in the unincorporated area of Cocoa where the vehicle fled from Deputies.
The traffic stop was initially terminated and the vehicle continued to flee in an unsafe manner, thus posing a continuing and ongoing threat to the public. Deputies were quickly able to locate the vehicle again and initiate a vehicle pursuit.
Deputies were able to effectively disable the vehicle in the area of Main Street in Mims after deploying stop sticks. Once disabled, the occupants of the vehicle fled on foot and with the assistance of Sheriff K-9 and Aviation, both suspects were taken into custody. One of the suspects was found to be in possession of a loaded firearm and both were in possession of narcotics.
26-year-old Cameron Dawes of Titusville, was arrested and charged with Felony Fleeing and Eluding Law Enforcement, Occupied Burglary of a Dwelling, Aggravated Assault of a Law Enforcement Officer, Resisting Arrest Without Violence, Possession of Marijuana. Dawes is being held in the Brevard County Jail without Bond.
30-year-old Joshua Green of Titusville, was arrested and charged with Battery on Law Enforcement Officer, Battery on Law Enforcement Officer K-9, Resisting With Violence, Possession of Firearm by Convicted Felon, Possession of Ammunition by Convicted Felon, Possession of Cocaine, and Possession of Heroin. After fleeing on foot from the vehicle, Green was transported to an area hospital for treatment from injuries sustained as a result of being apprehended by Sheriff K-9. During the apprehension and resisting arrest, Green was also seen battering the Sheriff K-9. The Sheriff K-9 was not injured in the incident. Green was transported to an area hospital where he was treated for minor injuries and released prior to being transported to the Brevard County Jail where he is being held without bond.
