Davide Carbone has resigned as CEO of St Mary’s Medical Center.
The move comes days after the hospital permanently closed its pediatric cardiothoracic surgery program.
The hospital’s decision to shut the program down followed a scathing report by CNN that looked at the number of babies who died after heart surgery at St. Mary’s. It concluded the hospital’s death rate was nearly three times that of the national average.
Joey Bulfin, chief operating officer, will be stepping in to serve as the interim CEO.
