A boat fire in Jupiter caused Guanabana’s restaurant to be evacuated.

Crews extinguished the fire behind the restaurant in Jupiter.

Palm Beach County Fire Rescue officials said the restaurant was evacuated for safety just in case the boat were to drift into the restaurant area.

Officials say first arriving crews found a fully involved 26-foot vessel floating in the middle of the waterway.

“With the wind is when we got really concerned for the safety of everyone because as that fiber glass burns it’s nasty,” said the restaurant manager, Jon Sullivan.

FWC says the boat’s operator was transported to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Three passengers on the boat were uninjured.

FWC says the operator said when they went to start the boat the engine “blew up”.
