The $100M Baron Landings project will be replacing what was once 76 Golf World in Stuart and will bring more housing to the Treasure Coast. Baron Landings is a mixed-use development project that aims to be an active community with apartments and retail space.
Baron Landings will have 308 apartments spread across four four-story buildings. The development will likely have many amenities, such as a pool, fitness center, and clubhouse. It will likely be similar to the Indigo Stuart Apartments development, which is also located on Kanner Highway.

The city is coordinating with Jeremiah Baron and Company to create the Baron Landings project in a nostalgic location where 76 Golf World sat in Stuart.
Baron Landings isn’t the company’s first construction project in the area. The developer is also responsible for the Baron Shoppes of Stuart, a new retail shopping center with restaurants like Moe’s Southwest Grill, Firehouse Subs, Metro Diner, Great Clips, and Jupiter Medical Urgent Care Clinic.
Baron Landings & the Florida Live Local Act
Martin County is using the Florida Live Local Act to expedite Baron Landings’ construction process. The Live Local Act is a statewide housing strategy designed to quickly increase the availability and affordability of housing options for Florida residents. Due to the Act, Baron Landings was able to skip standard regulatory processes and construct quickly.

The Live Local Act focuses on creating housing for very low—to moderate-income households. Around 40 percent of the residences at Baron Landings will be specifically for lower-income families. The average rental price in Stuart is $3000, but the homes in Baron Landings should cost significantly less. Jeremiah Baron, CEO of Baron Development, hopes the new development will provide housing options for teachers, firefighters, and other local workers who are essential to the community and need more housing options.
This isn’t the first time that Martin County has worked to address the availability of affordable housing in the area. In July 2023, commissioners along the Treasure Coast created a task team to improve affordable housing opportunities. Commissioners from St. Lucie, Martin, Indian River, and Okeechobee counties joined the team. Martin County is one of the first counties in Florida to use the Live Local Act to create new housing.
What Restaurants Will Baron Landings Have?
Baron Landings is dedicating 16,000 square feet of commercial space to restaurants, retail, and healthcare. The development already has tenants lined up who want to be part of the community.
So far, Starbucks, Jersey Mike’s and Del Taco, Heartland Dental, and the Great Greek Mediterranean Grill are expected to join the community. However, retail within the development is still available, so it’s yet to be determined what other retail shops or restaurants will join the community.

Across the street, residents will have access to RaceTrac, AutoZone, and Taco Bell. A Publix supermarket, the upcoming Costco store, and the Kanner Crossing Shopping Plaza are also a short drive. The restaurants, amenities, and nearby businesses make the development an attractive place to live. The community’s location on Kanner Highway also provides convenience for commuters. Some residents worry that the increasing traffic on the road will only become worse in years to come.
How will Baron Landings Affect Traffic?

Some locals are concerned that the development will create congestion in the area. Kanner Highway has seen an uptick in commercial plazas and residential communities developing along the stretch of the highway, increasing traffic as residents move into the new communities.
The developers plan to install a new traffic light, which hopes to ease congestion and improve the flow of traffic in the area. Baron Landings will also contribute to the community in other ways. For example, the new development will generate around $3.3 million in impact fees for schools, fire and police services, and other community needs.
Some locals are concerned about Stuart’s transformation as it expands to accommodate new residents. Stuart has grown quickly over the years. In 2024, the city was voted the best coastal town in the nation. Its designation as the best small town in America has sparked interest in the charming town and brought in new residents, placing pressure on local Stuart housing options. Baron’s Landing is expected to alleviate some pressure by housing at least three hundred families.
Where is Baron Landings Located?

Baron Landings is at 6801 S Kanner Highway in Stuart, Florida, between Salerno and Cove Road. The project is located on 21.4 acres. As 76 Golf World, a family fun center that included mini-golf, go-kart tracks, and more, the community saw this area very differently. The center closed in 2021 after being a staple of the Martin County community for 32 years. 76 Golf World was a well-loved business in Stuart that still resonates in the minds of many.
Jeremiah Baron and Co. purchased the former site of Stuart’s 76 Golf World for $8.8 million. After the purchase, the company decided that a housing and commercial real estate development would best benefit the surrounding community. Baron Landings plans to break ground in early spring, and the apartments will start construction in late spring or early summer.
