Back to school travel tips
Today is the first day of school, which means school buses are back out on the road. It can be difficult to remember all the situations where you need to stop for a bus, so here’s a quick refresher. If it’s a 2-lane road, vehicles traveling in both directions must stop for the bus. If it’s a multi-lane road with a turn-lane in the middle of the road, traffic in both directions still must stop for the bus. The only time you don’t need to stop for a bus is if there is an unpaved or a raised barrier between your car and the bus. And even then, drive with caution as kids can dart in and out of traffic. And remember to keep an eye out for crossing guards, and always stop when directed to.
