On June 15th and June 29th, Indian River County Sheriff’s Office School Resource Deputies conducted an undercover alcohol compliance operation, visiting more than twenty five establishments throughout the county that serve or sell alcohol. Three merchants were found in violation and issued arrest citations. The following individuals were charged with selling alcoholic beverages to a person under 21:
  • Alecia Fields (24) for a sale at Dom’s Bar, 1436 Old Dixie Highway in Vero Beach
  • Muhammad Etayem (23) for a sale at Raceway, 9490 108th Avenue in Sebastian
  • Michael Roberts (44) for a sale at Harbor Shell, 5325 US Highway 1 in Vero Beach
Indian River County Sheriff Deryl Loar stated, “Our school resource deputies act as a force multiplier during the summer. With school in recess, we direct them to focus their efforts on youth related crimes and activities that help keep our children safe. We are proud of them for protecting the children of Indian River County all year long.” Alcohol compliance checks conducted during Spring Break 2015 resulted in similar charges for four individuals. School resource deputies will continue their efforts over the course of the summer before returning to school in the fall.
