85 year-old Fort Pierce woman killed by alligator identified

Fort Pierce,  Fl (treasurecoast.com)-  Th 85 year-old Fort Pierce woman killed by alligator has been  identified.

Gloria Serge was walking her small dog near the community retention pond at Spanish Lakes Fairways.

The 10-foot alligator emerged from the water and knocked Serge over before it pulled her into the water by her foot, the agency’s report said.

The alligator initially grabbed the woman’s dog, then attacked her after she tried to save her pet.  The dog survived the attack but no details were revealed about the severity of its injuries.

According to a source a neighbor tried to throw her a rope and she said “It’s too late, he’s got me”.

Officials recovered the woman’s body and the alligator was captured by a nuisance alligator trapper, according to the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission.
