The Vero Beach High School band had a New Years Eve to remember.
They performed at the Peach Bowl in Atlanta, and were crowned Grand Champions of the entire event, up against some of the most accomplished bands in the country.
James Sammons is the longtime band director who helped the students perfect their act. He also helped families and boosters raise close to $900 per person to make to trip.
The marching band had to qualify and then compete against seven other bands from across the country.
The color guard, flags, jazz performance and marching band all won top honors with gold medals.
FSU lost at the Peach Bowl, but we can celebrate a win for the 230-strong Vero Beach High School Marching Band.
