The National Hurricane Center says a tropical depression has formed east of the Bahamas.

The eleventh depression of the season would be named Joaquin, though it appears unlikely due to environmental conditions.

Hurricane weather models move the system north between Bermuda and the Carolinas, eventually near New England late this week.

The tropical depression will not be a threat to Florida.
