Rivalry week! It was a battle of sophomore quarterbacks in the Martin Bowl. Matthew Bowman was making just his 2nd varsity start for South Fork, but he stepped up in a big way.
South Fork led 7-0 at the half. A pair of field goals made it 13-0 South Fork in the 4th quarter. This time, Bowman got the job done through the air.
That put the game out of reach, South Fork won 20-7. Their first win in the series since 2014. And in the Showdown game, Fort Pierce Westwood’s defense scored two fourth quarter TDs to beat Fort Pierce Central 21-2. In other games, Vero Beach defeated Merritt Island 35-12. Treasure Coast got three TD runs from Jordan Watkins to defeat Boca Raton 33-17. Port St Lucie and John Carroll both ended up losing their games this week. Make sure to tune in Friday night for a big district matchup between St Lucie West Centennial and Vero Beach. Greg Wyatt will have the call on both WPSL and WSTU.
