February 10 through February 17, 2017

 

TREASURE COAST – Construction and maintenance-related lane closures on state highways in Martin, St. Lucie and Indian River counties are expected during the week of February 10 through February 17. Weather permitting, work will be done at the following locations throughout the Treasure Coast. For updated lane closure information.

 

 

CONSTRUCTION PROJECTS
MARTIN COUNTY

Danforth Creek Bridge / State Road 714 Repair Project

Description: The Danforth Creek Bridge repair project on State Road 714 includes slope protection/channel lining to prevent further erosion, repairing the bridge slabs to prevent rotational movements and repairing the existing sidewalk on the south side of the bridge.
Cost/Completion: $1.18 million. Completion in early 2017.

Traffic Impact:

The speed limit on westbound Martin Downs Boulevard just before Mapp Road has been temporarily reduced from 45 MPH to 35 MPH.
One inside lane in either direction of Martin Downs Boulevard at the Danforth Creek Bridge, between Mapp Road and Immanuel Drive, will be closed intermittently Monday through Friday between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m.
One lane in either direction of Martin Downs Boulevard will be closed Friday, February 10 through Thursday, February 16 between 8 p.m. and 7 a.m. for roadway striping.

Kanner Highway / State Road 76 from Lost River Road to south of Monterey Road

The 4.3-mile-long Kanner Highway widening project will begin September 6, 2016. Kanner Highway is being widened from a four-lane divided highway to a six-lane divided highway. Additional work on this project includes: widening the bridge over the South Fork St. Lucie River; drainage improvements, including construction of five retention ponds; construction of sound walls at Fisherman’s / Somerset Cove and Whitemarsh Reserve; guardrail improvements; signalization upgrades; and turn lane and bicycle lane improvements.
Cost/Completion: $20.8 million. Completion is expected in spring 2019.

Traffic Impact:

The speed limit on Kanner Highway from Lost River Road to Indian Street has been reduced from 50 mph to 45 mph. The speed limit will remain at 45 mph after project completion.
One lane in either direction of Kanner Highway from Lost River Road to Martin County High School will be closed daily (Sunday through Saturday) between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. to clear vegetation for the construction of drainage ponds and sound walls.
One lane in either direction of Kanner Highway from Lost River Road to Martin County High School will be closed Wednesday and Thursday nights between 9 p.m. and 6 a.m. for barrier wall installation.
The sidewalk of the east side of Kanner Highway just south of the high school will be intermittently impacted daily (Sunday through Saturday) between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m., with flagmen holding pedestrian traffic so construction vehicles can enter and exit the pond area.
The side streets along Kanner Highway at Fisherman’s Cove and Somerset Cove are closed around-the-clock to build the foundation and install the posts for sound walls. No more than one side street will be closed at a time. Motorists can detour via SE Geneva Drive. The schedule for the side street closures is as follows, weather permitting:
SE Norfolk Boulevard – 7 a.m. February 13 to 12 p.m. February 14.
SE Taho Terrace – 12 p.m. February 14 to 12 p.m. February 17.
SE Cayuga Terrace – 12 p.m. February 17 to 6 p.m. February 17.
I-95 Interchange at Kanner Highway (State Road 76 / Exit 101)
Description: This 0.745-mile project includes widening Kanner Highway (SR 76) at the I-95 interchange, reconstructing the I-95 entrance and exit ramps, drainage, milling and resurfacing, signing & pavement markings, and signalization. Cost/Completion: $5.8 million. Completion in early 2017.

Traffic Impact:

One lane in each direction of Kanner Highway will be closed Monday through Friday between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. and Monday through Thursday night between 6 p.m. and 6 a.m. for road work.

Kanner Highway / State Road 76 from Connors Highway (State Road 15) to West of SW Lake Point Circle

Description: This 1.8-mile project includes milling and resurfacing of Kanner Highway, signing and pavement markings including rumble striping, shoulder widening, intersection and driveway paving, new guardrail and guardrail repair.
Cost/Completion: $1.31 million. Completion in spring 2017.

Traffic Impact:

One lane in either direction of Kanner Highway will be closed Monday through Friday between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. for resurfacing and sign installation A flag crew will maintain two-way traffic.

NE Causeway Boulevard from Indian River Drive to State Road A1A in Jensen Beach

Traffic Impact:

The sidewalk along the north side of NW Causeway Boulevard is closed through spring 2017. Pedestrians should use the sidewalk on the south side of the roadway.

U.S. 1 north of Jensen Beach Boulevard in Jensen Beach
Traffic Impact:
One northbound of U.S. 1 just north of Jensen Beach Boulevard will be closed Monday between 9 a.m. and 12 p.m. for utility work.

Kanner Highway / State Road 76 from Monterey Road to South Manor Drive in Stuart
Traffic Impact:
One northbound lane of Kanner Highway will be closed Monday through Friday between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. for utility work.

Kanner Highway / State Road 76 from Central Boulevard to Monterey Road in Stuart

Traffic Impact:
One southbound lane of Kanner Highway will be closed Monday between 9 a.m. and 11 a.m. for drainage repairs.

U.S. 1 north of Salerno Road in Stuart

Traffic Impact:
One southbound of U.S. 1 will be closed Tuesday between 9:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. for utility work.

U.S. 1 from SE Heritage Boulevard to SE Seabranch Boulevard in Hobe Sound
Traffic Impact:
One lane in each direction of U.S. 1 will be closed Monday through Friday between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. for construction of turning lanes.

ST. LUCIE COUNTY

State Road 70 / Okeechobee Road and Jenkins Road Intersection in Fort Pierce
Description: This .549-mile project includes widening the SR 70 and Jenkins Road intersection to provide additional through lanes and turning lanes, box culvert extension and installation work, drainage improvements, and lighting & signalization upgrades.
Cost/Completion: $5.46 million. Completion in spring 2017.

Traffic Impact:

One inside lane in either direction of Okeechobee Road from Jenkins Road to the Walmart entrance will be closed intermittently Monday through Friday between 7:30 a.m. and 4 p.m. for median work. Only one lane in each direction will be closed at the same time.
One lane in either direction of Okeechobee Road from I-95 to Kerr Street may be closed intermittently Sunday through Thursday night between 9 p.m. and 6 a.m. and Monday through Friday between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m.
One lane in either direction of Jenkins Road to the north & south of the Okeechobee Road intersection may be closed intermittently Sunday through Thursday night between 9 p.m. and 6 a.m. and Monday through Friday between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. A flag crew will maintain two-way traffic.
The eastbound Okeechobee Road right turn lane to southbound Jenkins Road is closed. Eastbound traffic can turn south onto Jenkins Road from the outside through lane, which is marked to allow right turns.
The sidewalk on the north side of Okeechobee Road from Peters Road to McNeil Road is closed through spring 2017. Pedestrians may cross at the signalized intersections at Peters Road & McNeil Road.

Indrio Road Widening Project in Fort Pierce

Description: Indrio Road is being widened from west of the I-95 interchange to east of Emerson Avenue (State Road 607). This 2.7-mile project includes: reconstructing the existing two-lane Indrio Road to a four-lane, divided highway with a raised median; constructing a 6-foot sidewalk along the south side and a 12-foot-wide multi-purpose trail along the north side of Indrio Road; realigning Spanish Lakes Boulevard to connect with Koblegard Road; reconstructing Koblegard Road from Indrio Road north approximately .5 mile; and installing new highway lighting, signage and signalization.
Cost/Completion: $23.9 million. Completion in spring 2019.

Traffic Impact:

The speed limit on Indrio Road between I-95 and Emerson Avenue has been reduced from 55 mph to 45 mph. The speed limit will remain at 45 mph after project completion.
One lane in either direction of Indrio Road will be closed Monday through Friday between 7 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. for road work and barrier wall installation. A flag crew will maintain two-way traffic.
One lane in either direction of Johnston Road will be closed Monday through Friday between 7 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. for clearing and debris removal. A flag crew will maintain two-way traffic.
One lane in either direction of Emerson Avenue will be closed Monday through Friday between 7 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. for clearing and debris removal. A flag crew will maintain two-way traffic.
Motorists on Spanish Lakes Boulevard may experience short delays at the new Spanish Lakes Boulevard tie-in Monday through Friday between 7 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. for roadway construction.
One lane in each direction of Indrio Road from I-95 to east of Koblegard Road is closed around-the-clock for construction on the north side of Indrio Road.
Westbound traffic on Indrio Road from Spanish Lakes Boulevard to east of Koblegard Road is shifted south, utilizing the existing eastbound lane. Both eastbound and westbound traffic are reduced to one lane in each direction.
As a part of this westbound traffic shift, the left-turn lane out of Spanish Lakes Fairways is closed and all motorists leaving the community MUST make a right turn onto Indrio Road. Motorists wanting to head eastbound on Indrio Road should head west on Indrio Road and make a U-turn at the opening after the I-95 overpass.

I-95 Bridge Deck Replacement Project at Gatlin Boulevard and Midway Road

Description: The I-95 bridge deck replacement project over Gatlin Boulevard and Midway Road includes: removing & replacing the bridge decks on I-95 over Gatlin Boulevard and CR-712/Midway Road; milling and resurfacing approaches to bridge decks; and re-striping approaches to bridge decks.
Cost/Completion: $8.2 million. Completion in fall 2017.

Traffic Impact:

The inside lane of I-95 is closed around-the-clock, with two outside lanes remaining open in each direction at the following overpasses:

  • northbound I-95 at Midway Road, with traffic shifted slightly to the east.
    southbound I-95 at Midway Road, with traffic shifted slightly to the west.
    The inside lane of southbound I-95 at Gatlin Boulevard, with traffic shifted slightly to the west.
    Northbound I-95 at Gatlin Boulevard, with traffic shifted slightly to the east.

Traffic on Gatlin Boulevard

at I-95 will be reduced to one lane in each direction and shifted to the north or south Sunday through Friday night between 8 p.m. and 7 a.m. for overhead work.
Traffic on Midway Road at I-95 will be reduced to one lane in each direction and shifted to the north or south Thursday night between 8 p.m. and 6 a.m. for bridge demolition.
One lane in each direction of Midway Road at I-95 will be closed Monday through Saturday between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. for bridge form work.
One lane in each direction of I-95 at Midway Road will be closed Thursday night between 8 p.m. and 6 a.m. for a bridge deck pour. Only one lane in each direction will be open.
One lane in each direction of Gatlin Boulevard at I-95 will be closed Monday through Saturday between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. for overhead work.

Midway Road Widening Project from S. 25th Street to U.S. 1

Description: This 1.8-mile project includes: reconstructing the existing two-lane Midway Road to a four-lane, divided highway with a raised median; installing a new signal at Sunrise Boulevard; constructing a new bridge over the North Fork St. Lucie River; constructing a 6-foot sidewalk on the north side and a 12-foot multi-purpose trail on the south side Midway Road; constructing 4-foot bike lanes on both sides of the roadway;

reconstruction of S. 25th Street approximately 1000’ to the south & north of Midway Road; reconstruction of Sunrise Boulevard from W. 1st Street to Charlotta Street; reconstruction of Oleander Avenue from W. 2nd Street to Merritt Ditch; drainage improvements, including constructing 6 retention ponds at 5 locations; and signage, signalization, and lighting improvements.
Cost/Completion: $26.8 million. Completion in spring 2020.

Traffic Impact:

One lane in either direction of Midway Road from 25th Street to U.S. 1 will be closed Monday through Friday between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. A flag crew will maintain two-way traffic.
One lane in either direction of Oleander Avenue from W. 1st Street to north of Midway Road will be closed intermittently Monday through Friday between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. A flag crew will maintain two-way traffic.
One lane in either direction of Sunrise Boulevard from W. 1st Street to Augusta Street will be closed intermittently Monday through Friday between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. A flag crew will maintain two-way traffic.

Midway Road from Oleander Avenue to U.S. 1 in Fort Pierce

Traffic Impact:
One eastbound lane of Midway Road will be closed Monday through Friday between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. through February for light pole replacement. A flag crew will maintain two-way traffic.

Port St. Lucie Boulevard from SE Wald Street to SE Allen Street in Port St. Lucie
Traffic Impact:
One westbound lane of Port St. Lucie Boulevard will be closed Tuesday between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. for drainage work.

 

INDIAN RIVER COUNTY

 

I-95 (SR 9) from just north of State Road 60 (Osceola Boulevard/Exit 147) at Vero Beach to the Indian River/Brevard County Line
Description: I-95 is being widened from just north of State Road 60 to the Indian River/Brevard County line. Improvements in this 12.5-mile-long project include: adding one lane on I-95 in each direction; milling and resurfacing the existing lanes; signalization and lighting improvements;

Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) improvements, including closed-circuit television cameras, Dynamic Message Signs and vehicle detectors; removal/replacement of the existing bridges over CR 512 (Fellsmere Road); construction of a noise barrier wall adjacent to the Encore Sunshine Travel RV Resort; and reconstruction of the interchange at CR 512, including the ramps and turn lanes.

Cost/Completion: $50.6 million. Completion in spring 2017.

Traffic Impact:

Motorists should be alert for slow moving construction vehicles entering and leaving the travel lanes.
The speed limit has been reduced to 60 mph in the work zone.
One lane in each direction of I-95 may be closed Sunday through Thursday between 9 p.m. and 6 a.m. for construction activities.
Southbound I-95 traffic from MM 156.5 to MM 155.8 is shifted to the new section of the CR-512 Bridge.
Northbound I-95 traffic is shifted to the southbound inside lanes from MM 149 to MM 153.5.
Southbound I-95 traffic is shifted to the northbound lanes from MM 149 to MM 147 through Friday, February 17.
Northbound I-95 traffic is shifted to the southbound lanes from MM 154 to MM 154.8.

Northbound I-95 traffic is shifted to the northbound lanes on the new section of the bridge from MM 155 to MM 156.3.

U.S. 1 from 17th Street to 18th Street in Vero Beach

Traffic Impact:
One northbound lane of U.S. 1 will be closed Monday through Friday between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. for driveway and sidewalk work.

U.S. 1 from Main Street to County Road 512 in Sebastian
Traffic Impact:
One southbound lane of U.S. 1 will be closed Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. for utility work.

U.S. 1 from Garden Grove Parkway to Grove Isle Circle in Vero Beach
Traffic Impact:
One northbound lane of U.S. 1 will be closed Monday through Friday between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. for utility work.
