Sports Update
High School basketball, district tournaments. Okeechobee trailed by 6 points in the fourth quarter. Then they rallied to upset top-seeded Heritage 66-62 in the District 13-7A semifinals. Meanwhile, Sebastian River went on a 16-0 run to start the 3rd quarter to knock off Jensen Beach 40-24 in the other semifinal. In the championship game, it was Sebastian River that came out on top, defeating Okeechobee 44-29. It was the second straight district championship for Sebastian River. In the district 8-9A championship game, an 11-0 run to start the 4th quarter helped propel Treasure Coast past Fort Pierce Central 57-48. And Suncoast held off Westwood 73-45 in the District 15-6A championship game.
Now those teams all prepare for the Regional Tournaments, which start this week. The Regional Quarterfinals will be Thursday evening at 7 o’clock.
