Cold weather shelter to open Saturday, January 29 in Martin County

STUART, Fla (January 28, 2022) – A cold weather shelter will open in Martin County this weekend. According to the National Weather Service, the weather for the evenings of Saturday and Sunday, January 29-30 is forecast to be at or below 40 degrees Fahrenheit for four hours or more. COVID-19 protocols will include social distancing and optional masks.

Sunday, January 30 at 6 p.m., closing at 7 a.m. Monday, January 31

St. Lucie County

The Image of Christ shelter, 3090 Avenue G, Fort Pierce, will open 5 p.m. to 7 a.m. Friday, Saturday and Sunday into Monday morning.

 

Indian River

The Salvation Army location in Vero Beach will be open as a cold weather shelter beginning Saturday, January 29, 2022 from 6 p.m until 7:30 a.m. Sunday.

They are able to assist the first 40 people who arrive at 2655 5th Street SW in Vero Beach.

Cold Weather Shelter/Lodging Assistance:

The Source is a private community outreach program, and they are open each night starting at 9:00 PM. The Source has a 20 bed Dignity Bus, which is located at 1015 Commerce Avenue in Vero Beach, Florida. For more information please call 717-435-2312.
