Stuart PD looking for leads in East Stuart shooter

Stuart PD looking for leads in East Stuart shooter.

Stuart police still don’t have many leads following last week’s shooting in East Stuart. Police responded to a shots fired call last Wednesday at the intersection of Bahama Avenue and Church Street just before 8pm. Police say a crowd of onlookers were standing outside of Taylor’s Grocery. One witness told police they saw a gun go off across the street from Taylor’s and that the person targeted was her significant other. But when police tried to talk to the victim, he wouldn’t cooperate. A car parked outside of Taylor’s was hit by a stray bullet, however no shell casings were found and the bystanders standing outside the store said they were playing dominoes, so they didn’t see the shooting. It was later discovered that the shooter fled north on Southeast Spruce Avenue, then west in an unknown direction. Anyone with information should call the Stuart Police Department at 772-287-1122.
