Stockpile of guns found during drug arrest in Port St. Lucie

On August 3, 2016, Port St. Lucie Police Detectives arrested Aaron David Lay,  for producing Marijuana, possession of Marijuana over 20 grams, possession of Cocaine, traffic in Methamphetamine, and possession of drug paraphernalia after a police detectives executed a drug search warrant of Lay’s home.

The investigation began when Lay’s girlfriend told police that Lay had a stockpile of guns and several drugs inside his Port St. Lucie home.  This information was given to the Special Investigation Division detectives who was able to secure a search warrant for Lay’s home located in the 200 block of SW Kestor Drive.  Detectives arrested Lay outside his home then conducted a search of his house pursuant to the search warrant.

A search of the residence revealed 88 grams of Methamphetamines in a Dasani water bottle, a plastic baggie containing numerous clear plastic baggies with cocaine residue, cup containing numerous different size baggies with cocaine residue, glass cylinder containing 365.5 grams of Marijuana, glass cylinder containing 153 grams of Marijuana, a glass cylinder containing 109 grams of Marijuana, a clear glass jar containing 1 gram of methamphetamine, green plastic container containing less than 1 gram of cocaine, sixty two (62) glass smoking devices with cannabis residue, several butane lighters commonly used for the production of Cannabis Wax, digital scale with Marijuana residue, grinder with Marijuana residue, and eight plastic baggies with cocaine residue.

In total detectives seized 628 grams of Marijuana, 90 grams of Methamphetamine, and one gram of cocaine.
During the search warrant detectives also seized the following firearms that was located in Lay’s home: Fab Defense AR-15, Mossberg 12 gauge, AK-47, Camo Mossberg 12 gauge, Remington 870, Stevens Savage Arms 12 gauge, Glock 23, Colt Revolver, H &R Inc. Revolver 38 caliber, and a Colt D A 38 Handgun.  A substantial amount of ammunition, double fed magazines, and drum style magazines for the shotguns were recovered and taken into evidence.

Lay was subsequently arrested and taken to the St. Lucie County Jail for booking.
