SLC Firefighters saved many Pets over the weekend!

A dog was killed after fire broke out Friday evening at a home on SE Whitmore Drive in Port St Lucie. St. Lucie County firefighters say all of the residents were out of the home by the time they arrived. Authorities say a man was injured trying to save his animals and was taken to a local hospital. One firefighter was also taken to the hospital for smoke inhalation. Three dogs and a rabbit were still inside the home. Firefighters were able to save two of the dogs and the rabbit. The Red Cross was called in to assist the three adults living in the home. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

On May 13, Firefighters Nick Curry, Eric Rosenquist, Travis Owen, and Julie Higgs from station 13 rescued a small kitten that some how became trapped in a storm drain on Becker Rd. PSLPD and animal control were also on scene.
