.Simulated Terrorist Attack in Treasure Coast Today.
Multiple counties will participate in mass casualty event this morning throughout the Treasure Coast.
The exercise will simulate a terrorist attack in multiple locations. Biggest goal is to test the ability to respond by three jurisdictions: Martin, St Lucie, and Indian River Counties.
Florida’s Region 5 domestic Security Task Force is in charge.
The activities will take place around Florida Atlantic University’s Harbor Branch Oceanographic Institute, the Tradition area, and Witham Air in Martin County. It will be a full scale exercise with many simulations.
This activity took six months to plan.
There will be simulated chemical explosions, fires and a boat chase! Local, state ad federal agencies will participate.
Being prepared for the worst case scenario is the goal.
The drill begins at 8 am.
