Section of Indian River Drive to Close Oct. 2 in St. Lucie County
FORT PIERCE – St. Lucie County’s Public Works Department will close a section of Indian River Drive from Midway Road to Walton Road on Friday, Oct. 2, while crews work to repair a small area impacted by this week’s heavy rains. Barricades will be established at each end of the closed area, allowing only access for residents living along the drive. Traffic will be diverted to U.S. 1 as a detour.
The county has issued an emergency declaration to allow Ranger Construction to stabilize an area of the roadway and embankment roughly 500 feet north of Walton Road.
Crews expect to have the road reopened by Friday, Oct. 2 at 5 p.m. Motorists are advised to avoid Indian River Drive until the work is completed.
