The Florida Department of Health in Indian River and St. Lucie Counties have issued a rabies alert for southern Indian River County and northern St. Lucie County.
The alert comes after a raccoon tested positive for rabies on June 19 following an unprovoked attack on two domestic dogs.
The rabies alert will affect the area south of Oslo Road and north of Indrio Road between US1 and I95.
This is the second rabies alert this month for St Lucie County.
A cat tested positive for rabies back on June 2nd.
Even if you live outside of the warning area you should be alert and keep your pets protected.
