Qualifying Results from the Nitro Jam Nationals presented by Good Vibrations

AIRWAY HEIGHTS, Washington (July 10, 2015) – Day one of the inaugural Nitro Jam Nationals presented by Good Vibrations at Spokane County Raceway was a success. The track had the largest Friday night crowd to date as people came out to watch two rounds of qualifying. The on-track action will continue tomorrow with another round of qualifying and eliminations. 

Mike Pelrine from Ft. Saskatchewan, Alberta was the dominant force in the Nitro Harley class this evening. He topped the qualifying sessions with a 6.526 second run at 217.33 mph on the quarter-mile drag strip. Points leader, Randal Andras, sits second with a 6.747 second run at 196.20 mph. A third and final qualifying run will take place tomorrow afternoon in this class.

2014 AMSOIL Nitro Funny Car presented by Aeromotive champion Jason Rupert is the number one qualifier at Spokane County Raceway. Rupert had a 5.721 second run at 251.95 mph in his 1969 Camaro. Kris Krabill posted the second quickest time with a 5.738 second run at 241.28 and current points leader Mike McIntire had the third best time with a 5.875, 235.97 mph. The field is set for tomorrow’s first elimination run and five cars are going home including points contender Tim Boychuk.

Marisha Falk claimed the top spot in Jet Dragster competition. After two rounds of qualifying, Falk posted a 5.977 second run at 269.29 mph. 2014 Jet Dragster champion, Elaine Larsen had the second quickest time with a 5.981 second pass at 268.57 mph.

Also, the Pro Alcohol Funny Car class made their 2015 Nitro Jam season debut at Spokane County Raceway. Matt Driscoll in his 1972 GTX made a 6.746 second pass at 216.45 mph.  The first qualifying session was used as a testing session for the class. One more qualifying session remains tomorrow at 2 p.m.

The Nitro Jam Nationals presented by Good Vibrations will continue tomorrow with a full day of sportsman racing with the Summit Racing Equipment Pro-Am Tour, capped off with final qualifying for all professional classes and eliminations with the IHRA Nitro Jam Drag Racing Series. Tickets are available at the gate.
