Public Invited to Port St. Lucie Community Garden Grand Opening
The public is invited to attend the Port St. Lucie Community Garden grand opening event on Friday, Oct. 2 at 2 p.m. The community garden is located at 2600 S.E. Waterview Drive, at City Center, just south of the Civic Center parking garage.
The event will include guest speakers and light refreshments will be served. Those in attendance will see the beginnings of the beautiful bounty the garden will bestow on those who tend to it.
The half-acre City Center property has been developed for this community garden through CDBG grant funding. There are 44 garden plots (4’x8’x12″) that folks may use to grow organic fruits, vegetables, herbs and flowers. Four additional plots are wheelchair accessible (4’x8’x24″) and are situated on concrete slabs.
Individual garden plots are available on a first-come, first-served basis. There is a yearly fee of $25. Interested gardeners may pick up an application at the grand opening event or get more information by contacting Anna Marie Colonnese at (772) 873-6312 or acolonnese@cityofpsl.com.
This is a great opportunity for gardeners to have a happy, secure and enjoyable place where all participants can garden and socialize peacefully in a neighborly way.
