PSLPD: Man surrenders to police after barricading himself inside home with son

Port St. Lucie, Fl (treasurecoast.com) – A person barricaded in a home with a child inside has surrendered to the police.

Here are the details from the Port St. Lucie Police:

Update – The Crisis Negotiation and SWAT Team negotiated with the barricaded individual for approximately the past 7 hours and was able to get him to safely release the child unharmed. The SWAT Team later breached the residence, the male surrendered and was taken into custody.
Great job to all involved in the peaceful and safe resolution of this incident. Thank you to the St. Lucie County Sheriff’s Office for responding and providing assistance.
Original Post – PSLPD is on scene in the 900-BLK of SW Jaslo Ave regarding a barricaded subject experiencing a mental health crisis that is possibly armed. There is also a child inside the residence.
The PSLPD Crisis Negotiation and SWAT Team are on scene attempting to de-escalate and peacefully resolve the situation. There is a heavy police presence on scene, please avoid the area.
