A Port St Lucie woman is jailed for an identity theft scheme that targeted multiple victims, one as young as 5 years old.
Samantha Salazar allegedly stole the identify of 21 Waters Edge Dermatology patients.
The former Water’s Edge Dermatology employee was arrested last week for opening Capitol One credit cards using confidential patient information.
Police say Salazar racked up more than 12-thousand dollars on the fraudulent cards.
Police spokesman Frank Sabol says this kind of fraud may go without notice until it’s too late. But when one victim noticed a change on a credit report, they contacted officials immediately.
Waters Edge Dermatology declined to comment. Salazar could face 10 years in prison.
