PSL police arrest woman suspected of killing her stepfather and daughter

Port St Lucie, Fl- On June 24, 2019 at around 12:30 am, Port St. Lucie Police went to the Waterleaf Townhomes Apartments.  The apartments are located at 1920 -95 SE Hillmoor Drive, Port St Lucie, FL. The police went after getting reports of a shooting involving two fatalities.  Initial information provided to police revealed the suspect (28-year-old, Hispanic female, Alyssa Marie Torres) is involved and fled the scene in a 2005 Toyota Rav4, Silver in color bearing a Florida Tag of KPD -T14.  Alyssa Marie Torres is believed to be ARMED and DANGEROUS.

St. Lucie County Fire/Rescue responded to the scene and transported one victim to a nearby hospital for non-life-threatening medical treatment.

10:25 a.m. update

Police learned the following information: While inside of the apartment at Waterleaf Townhomes Apartments; Suspect- Alyssa Marie Torres shot and killed her stepfather who is believed to be in his early 50’s. Alyssa Marie Torres shot and killed her eight-year-old daughter and caused injury to her mother/victim who sustained non-life-threatening injuries. The mother (victim) of the suspect was transported to a nearby hospital and is currently receiving medical treatment. The motive to this shooting is unknown at this time.

Detectives are working with other jurisdictions in hopes of locating Alyssa Marie Torres as Probable Cause exists for an arrest on a double homicide. Alyssa Marie Torres frequents the Palm Beach County and Orlando areas. Alyssa Marie Torres fled the scene in a 2005 Silver Toyota Rav4, Florida Tag KPD -T14. Alyssa Marie Torres is believed to be armed and dangerous, therefore if seen, immediately call the police (9-1-1).

In the late morning hours at around 10:30 am Port St. Lucie Police Detectives located and arrested 28-year-old Alyssa Marie Torres. Alyssa Marie Torres has been taken to the Port St. Lucie Police Department to be interviewed by detectives.

7:46 ***CORRECTION – SUSPECT Alyssa Marie Torres; DOB is 1/6/1990, She is 29 years old.***

On June 24, at around 10:30 am with the assistance of St. Lucie County Sheriff’s Department and the U.S. Marshall Task Force, Alyssa Torres was located at the 7300 block of S Indian River

Drive. Alyssa Torres cooperated with detectives and was taken into custody without incident. She was transported to the Port St. Lucie Police Department for an interview. Alyssa Torres appears to have acted alone and there are no remaining suspects at large.

The Port St. Lucie Police Department is working closely with the State Attorney’s Office and Alyssa Torres has been charged with TWO COUNTS of MURDER and ONE COUNT of AGGRAVATED BATTERY with a deadly weapon.

Detectives cleared both crime scenes after they executed three search warrants (Waterleaf Townhomes Apartment, the residence/vehicle -7300 block S Indian River Drive and DNA of the suspect’s person).

A firearm (Ruger 300 LCP) was recovered from the suspect’s vehicle and placed into evidence.

The suspect’s vehicle is currently being processed as this case is still actively being investigated.

The victim remains at the hospital in stable condition.

The victim identified Alyssa Torres as the shooter.

Alyssa Torres was transported to the St Lucie County Jail and was booked at around 4:46 pm.
