Protests fired up again Friday, over the state’s just-completed bear hunt, the first in 21 years, and stated plans to hold a hunt again next year.
The FWC called off the hunt after just two days when the bear hunts quota was reached. FWC has acknowledged violations of the hunt rules and says it is investigating.
More than two dozen demonstrators sang, carried signs and stuffed toy bears, and placed candles, outside the state Fish and Wildlife Commission’s regional office in West Palm Beach. They called the bear hunt a shameful slaughter.
The protesters wanted to shame the FWC for their part in the bear hunt.
