Port St. Lucie teen sparks investigation after  posting photo of guns on Snapchat

Port St. Lucie, Fl- On Sunday, February 3, 2019 at around 3:30 pm, Port St. Lucie Police were notified of an alarming snapchat post. The post was a picture of several guns with the caption “If the Pats win don’t come tmr”. After the initial post was sent on social media, several other reposts with comments circulated over social media.

A team of Port St. Lucie Police Detectives teamed up with St. Lucie County School Security in an attempt to identify the person responsible for post. Later the evening of Sunday, February 3, 2019, Detectives identified a 15 year old male student of Centennial High School.

Detectives went to the suspect’s home and made contact with the teen and his parents. Police searched the home and did not find any guns or weapons. Investigation revealed that the suspect obtained the picture of the guns through another social media site and did not take the picture himself.

There was added police presence at the school with Port St. Lucie Police, St. Lucie County Sheriff’s Office, and School Security. There is no further threat to the students or staff at the school; however this is an ongoing investigation.
