PSLPD investigating fatal crash: Motorcycle vs. SUV at St. Lucie West and California.
On October 3, 2017 at around 5:40 pm, Port St. Lucie Police along with St. Lucie County Fire/Rescue went to the intersection of SW St. Lucie West Boulevard and SW California Boulevard. They were there to investigate a crash between a motorcycle and SUV.
Preliminary investigation revealed that 58 year old Terrance Brown (1900 block of SW Lennox St, Port St. Lucie) was driving a 2004 Honda Pilot west on SW St. Lucie West Boulevard and was turning south on SW California Boulevard. At the same time 23 year old Corey Martinez (1800 block of SE Dranson Circle, Port St. Lucie) was operating a 2011 Kawasaki motorcycle traveling east on SW St. Lucie West Boulevard at SW California Boulevard.
According to witnesses Brown was attempting to make the turn to proceed southbound on California after entering the intersection with a yellow light. As the east bound traffic stopped for the light, Brown proceeded to make the turn where Martinez struck the side of Browns vehicle at a high rate of speed.
Martinez was pronounced deceased at the scene. Brown was taken to a local hospital where he was treated for minor injuries and later released.
Port St. Lucie Police Traffic Homicide Investigators are continuing the investigation of this fatal crash.
