Local Transit Agencies Offering Chance to Win Monthly Passes

With the continued fluctuation of gas prices, Palm Tran will join with other public transportation systems nationwide to participate in the tenth annual National Dump the Pump Day on Thursday, June 18.

Palm Tran and its South Florida regional transit partners have collaborated on a contest to promote Dump the Pump and bring awareness of public transportation as a viable commuting option. If an individual pledges via a website form to ride public transportation on Thursday, June 18, they are entered to win a free monthly pass on Palm Tran, Broward County Transit, Miami-Dade Transit or Tri-Rail. To access the contest pledge form, click here: https://www.1800234ride.com/dump_the_pump . You can also pledge by calling South Florida Commuter Services at 1-800-234-RIDE.

The American Public Transportation Association’s (APTA) Dump the Pump Day encourages people to ride public transportation instead of driving a car. Started in June 2006 when gas prices were $3 per gallon, this national day emphasizes that public transportation is a convenient travel option that also helps people save money. According to the April APTA Transit Savings Report, individuals in a two-person household can save an average of more than $9,394 annually by downsizing to one car.
