The coast guard reports that 70 people were killed in 581 boating accidents in Florida last year.
The numbers released on Wednesday show alcohol was a factor in 12 of the deaths.
Officials say crashes are usually caused by distracted boaters, improper lookout, inexperience, speed, and alcohol use.
